What's the difference between golf carts and LSVs?
In South Carolina, both golf carts and LSVs need to be registered with the DMV. Golf carts require proof of purchase and insurance and the DMV issues a sticker for the windshield. LSVs are registered in the same manner as cars and receive a license plate. LSVs are charged yearly property tax and more upfront DMV fees. LSVs are fully street-legal and DOT compliant. LSVs can be driven at night and can travel further than 4 miles from the registered address. Some neighborhoods and municipalities require LSV registration.
